Michelle Cross

Biography

Michelle Cross is obsessed with her music. "I [play and write music] all the time. When I don't have a job I'm playing 14 hours a day. When I do have a job I play 4 or 5 hours a day. I have to do it everyday… as much as I can squeeze in." She describes her songs as therapeutic and very personal. "It's like my journal" although she admits she likes to "steal shoes" a lot.

Sprinkled with classical influences and firmly supported by strong vocals, Cross's songs tend to have a darker moodier feel to them. At times, there is a lot of aggression and rhythm in her piano playing, yet even at its most gentle moments her powerfully emotional and melodic piano-based songs have caused listeners to sit-up and pay attention." Last Ode to Rain
Hey Folks,

I have been SICK. I finally got my butt to the doctor and discovered I had strep throat the whole time. I now shiver as the meds do their thang. But I was especially warmed to recieve a Christmas card from Yee Ling, Ivar and Julie - what delightful people you are! Thank you so much! You guys totally put a smile on my face and my heart.

And Brianna, thanks for the updates below. This is my cue to introduce to you Last Ode To Rain (it might take a minute for Matty Poo to put the music up). This is another tune I wrote way back in time, when I first met My Dear Mister Mole, who is better known as Edward Hazelgrove. He is a poet, then an English professor and he is possibly the most kindred spirit I will ever know. Anyhow, I bring him up because the music was entirely inspired by his poem, Last Ode To Rain. I still have to ask him if I can post the actual poem - at which time I will post my lyrics. We wrote a Rock Opera together too, and it is my dream to properly produce this collection of songs and get it out to you. He is wonderful - I love him always.

As for the Tsunami benefit concert, I have called upon the Bad Dog Girls to set up an event at the Bad Dog Tavern here in Chicago. Looks like there is going to be a lot of music, a lot of film and a lot of art. We're between two dates right now, but I will make another posting when we have our ducks in order.

Sneeze!
Michelle
