Michelle Cross

Biography

Michelle Cross is obsessed with her music. "I [play and write music] all the time. When I don't have a job I'm playing 14 hours a day. When I do have a job I play 4 or 5 hours a day. I have to do it everyday… as much as I can squeeze in." She describes her songs as therapeutic and very personal. "It's like my journal" although she admits she likes to "steal shoes" a lot.

Sprinkled with classical influences and firmly supported by strong vocals, Cross's songs tend to have a darker moodier feel to them. At times, there is a lot of aggression and rhythm in her piano playing, yet even at its most gentle moments her powerfully emotional and melodic piano-based songs have caused listeners to sit-up and pay attention." The Holidays Are Here Yet Again
You've been waiting--hell, we all have--to know which song Michelle would be bringing to you, and when, for the Holiday Season(s). And now, dear friends and fans, I have the annual privilege of bringing you what I am sure you will feel was worth the wait.

This year Michelle (with Mat's producing) has come up with "Michelle's Favorite Things." Her voice is, as always, gorgeous; the tones reach from the dips into a low, rich velvet then soars high into sweetness. Where her previous annual holiday songs were beautiful, I, personally, feel this year has produced a holiday song with a quality that now lives unequaled in comparison.

Michelle Cross - Michelle's Favorite Things. (Right-click, save as, folks!)

And, because I adore you all, I listened and listened, and wrote out the lyrics for you.

Valentine roses and whispered confessions
Handwritten poems and soft-hearted villains
Mermaids who surface at twilight and sing
These are a few of my favorite things

Spanish flamenco and pink-colored poodles
Bright red kimonos and sexual doodles
Airplanes that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

When the phone rings
And it’s not him
When I’m feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

Strawberry cake and Victorian gardens
Birthday confetti and Venetian fountains
White cherry blossoms that bloom in the spring, spring

Withering trees and the change in the seasons
Halloween parties, gift for no reason
Finally seeing a bad day come to an end

Finding a shell that is perfectly pink
These are a few of my favorite things

When the phone rings
And it’s not him
When I’m feeling sad
When I’m feeling sad

Enjoy!

Hi You Guys!! I can't remember how to post a blog, so I'm making a comment instead. Thank you for your kind feedback! I'm sorry I wasn't able to post the Madonna tune - unforseen technical difficulties... I WISH we could wrap up the actual "Michelle Cross Album of New Tunes", but things are sloooow moving - it's MADDENING! The knick knacks of life keeps Team Monkey quite busy, and as beggars cannot be choosers, I wait patiently to get into the studio to actually make some progress. And so, I am MOST indebted to you guys for still checking in with me. I swear, the songs are written for the new record and I really do luv them!! If only I could tie the boys to their chairs...

I wish you all a very sweet little day. Thank you for your support. It makes me so very happy!

Michelle
