Michelle Cross

Biography

Michelle Cross is obsessed with her music. "I [play and write music] all the time. When I don't have a job I'm playing 14 hours a day. When I do have a job I play 4 or 5 hours a day. I have to do it everyday… as much as I can squeeze in." She describes her songs as therapeutic and very personal. "It's like my journal" although she admits she likes to "steal shoes" a lot.

Sprinkled with classical influences and firmly supported by strong vocals, Cross's songs tend to have a darker moodier feel to them. At times, there is a lot of aggression and rhythm in her piano playing, yet even at its most gentle moments her powerfully emotional and melodic piano-based songs have caused listeners to sit-up and pay attention." We've been hearing word...
We've been hearing word that the CDs are arriving, and have been since the end of last week. We'd love to know what you think of the album, so let us know what you think!

Also, if you want to take the time to exploit your experience of discovering Michelle's music for the first time, or if you prefer to pour over your weeks, months, years of enjoying her music, please share it with us. Make sure to tell us if you'd like your words to one day be shared on the site.

And this is where I've put the cart before the horse (ie--I haven't mentioned any of the above to Mat or Michelle and really I'm just eager to hear what people have to say and to then share it with them; this is how I spend my friday night...).

Your CDs have been sent!
A message from Michelle:

Hey Everybody.

In regards to those of you waiting for a CD:

First off - I am SOOOO sorry about this crazy delay! I absolutely flipped when I found out what happened. I’ve felt horrid and anxious the whole time we’ve been waiting. But I’ll be sleeping a little better tonight, now that Matty Poo and I have sent them all out like pigeons. Your pigeon should be arriving next week, fo’ sure. Thanks for your understanding.

Secondly. Thanks to those who so generously bought a record. It is my deepest hope that you will like it. It’s funny - now that I feel free of these old tunes, I have room for all sorts of new tunes. I guess it can be a bit like playing solitaire, from what I understand of solitaire. It’s fabulous and I’m so glad it’s Spring.

And I guess lastly - Matty Poo and I are getting together on Sundays to work up a live show. We’re thinking we’ll make a little road trip MAYBE. It’s tough. We’ve both got rent to pay and such – but I’ve got a new job that might let me do this sometime this year. In the meantime, we’ll be playing in Chicago (give it another couple of months?). Between you and I, I absolutely hate playing out. I don’t know why – but there, I’ve said it.

My apologies and my thanks, once again. Matty Poo has Seal IV on right now and I absolutely must have a dance.

Truly,
Michelle

Downtime
You're not going to see this at first. The reason you won't be seeing it is because the hosting provider for Michelle Cross (dot) Com is currently switching our server to a more secure location. This just means that while you're experiencing moments of frustration (I understand!) at not being able to get your news (or download music, or look at photos), with any luck you shouldn't experience the same in the future. We hope to give forewarning if/when there is a future downtime.

So, hoping all goes well, you will see this notice in as few as 24 hours, understanding that it's not our fault and we're not trying to torture you in anyway; and as an added bonus I will be more pleasant to be around (currently I'm very "GRR"), and won't be worrying Mat and Michelle about the state of affairs here at MCDC (that's "Michelle Cross Dot Com").

Okay, this is where I copy and paste this to the mailing list so no one freaks out and starts eating copious amounts of Sushi just to get back at the site.

I'm just trying this thing out. Hello... are you out there? Matty Poo?
This is very strange. Words are really at my fingertips - it's like magic. I must be careful what I say. I have a horrible habit of speaking before thinking. But I'm really here to try out this new thing - this thing that lets me write you guys - thanks again to Mz. Brianna. And thanks to all of you who have been stopping by from time to time. It's really so kind of you.

I've got'ta run for now, but I shall be back. I've got'ta see if this thing is working for real. It's like stepping back and seeing if a picture is hanging straight or crooked. Needless to say, computers aren't my thang. I wish it were - I'd feel so free, I think. Now will you imagine I'm wearing a cape and I disappear in a poof of smoke?

Until Very Soon -

Michelle
