Biography
Michelle Cross is obsessed with her music. "I [play and write music] all the time. When I don't have a job I'm playing 14 hours a day. When I do have a job I play 4 or 5 hours a day. I have to do it everyday… as much as I can squeeze in." She describes her songs as therapeutic and very personal. "It's like my journal" although she admits she likes to "steal shoes" a lot.
Sprinkled with classical influences and firmly supported by strong vocals, Cross's songs tend to have a darker moodier feel to them. At times, there is a lot of aggression and rhythm in her piano playing, yet even at its most gentle moments her powerfully emotional and melodic piano-based songs have caused listeners to sit-up and pay attention." Update
Hey there - it's Michelle. Just wanted to let y'all know what's going on seeing as it feels like it's been a really long time since I've peeked out the window. We ARE in the process of recording the new record right now, which will be titled Dolls Come To Life. It looks like there will be 12 songs, though that is still to be confirmed. Ideally, I'd like to also record a mini collection of "Doll-related" tunes in conjuction with the new release (probably just vox/piano). Matty Poo has done some fabulous things with the new material and it has filled me completely with delight. I simply cannot wait, and want so badly to put the pedal to the metal.
I've joined up with a Japanese drumming team, and this, I'm LUVing. I am DEFINITELY going to be incorporating this into future materials. Oh, and I recently saw a movie - Water? Have you guys heard of this movie? It's awesome. Anyhow, it's inspired me to get heavily into Indian music as well, and I hope to incorporate a bit of that too. If only I could find myself a sitar player... Lastly, Brianna (bless her heart) is helping me out with starting up a new site for my paper dolls. I had some photos taken and discovered some flaws in the pieces, so now I have to get them retaken with everything fixed. SO looking forward to that too.
I checked out my MySpace account - how fun! I have friends! Anyhow, I saw Ivar's comment and I'm intending to spend part of my next session with Matty Poo on recording some vox/piano cover tunes. I just hope there aren't any legality issues with posting them online - but I guess for the record, I mean not to make trouble. Just covers. I think that's it in a nut shell. Hope you are all enjoying a lovely and safe summer. Do use sunscreen, and don't try to get a tan.
Kisses all around!
Michelle
