Biography
Michelle Cross is obsessed with her music. "I [play and write music] all the time. When I don't have a job I'm playing 14 hours a day. When I do have a job I play 4 or 5 hours a day. I have to do it everyday… as much as I can squeeze in." She describes her songs as therapeutic and very personal. "It's like my journal" although she admits she likes to "steal shoes" a lot.
Sprinkled with classical influences and firmly supported by strong vocals, Cross's songs tend to have a darker moodier feel to them. At times, there is a lot of aggression and rhythm in her piano playing, yet even at its most gentle moments her powerfully emotional and melodic piano-based songs have caused listeners to sit-up and pay attention." Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?
The 1st cover released to us, Michelle's version of "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?"August 20, 2006
I have to tell you, guys, this version blows me away. Everything Mat said in the previous post is right and yet--and yet--still does no justice to the beauty and sadness of this song.
Truly, I believe you will hear something here you've never heard before. Neither from the song or Michelle.
Michelle Cross - Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow? (Cover)
I don't think I need to remind anyone to right-click and save as, or do whatever Mac's do to save directly to your computer.
Enjoy. Please feel free to leave comments to let Michelle know what you think!
Cover tune #1
You asked for it, here it is. In a very short time, the lovely Ms. Brianna will be posting the first of many cover tunes that Michelle is recording. The song is "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow". It was a grey rainy day when we recorded this and I suggested Michelle try playing it on my mother's old grand piano. The piano hadn't been tuned in almost 6 months and I wasn't sure how the sound would stand up- but listening to it now, the out-of-tuneness creates a sad, melancholy feel, which works surprisingly well for the piece.August 1, 2006
We are currently working on more tunes and as we complete them, we'll post them one by one. At first we thought we'd just put down some simple piano/vocal versions of the songs, but now I think we'll be doing more. It's always fun to put a new spin on old/known songs, so why not see what we can come up with? I promise to (try and) not keep you waiting too long...
Enjoy!

Oh My Golly Miss Molly....
Awwww.... you guys!!! And you know who I'm talking about!!! Matty Poo just delivered me a fabulous, lovely, tear-jerking postcard of the River of Seine from... well, you know who you are, you six lovely people!!! So here we are (Matty Poo and I) in a little Internet coffee shop sipping waters - it is TERRIBLY hot today!! - and we thought impulsively that we should send a little blog out to you angels. Thank you SO very much for making my year thus far. You have no idea the depths of my gratitude.
We actually recorded a few covers in our session last week - we will slowly make them available in the coming months. First off is going to be (I think) Will You Still Love Me, originally performed by the Nymphs and written by Carole King, I'm pretty sure. Anyhow, it's one of my favorite "oldies" songs (next to Lion Sleeps Tonight). Please do stay tuned for Nick Cave, Madonna, Portishead, Neil Young, Eurythmics and even Michael Jackson... heh, heh, heh. This is with much love to y'all!! And Ivar... extra kisses to you!!
Most Genuinely, XXOO -
Michelle and Matty Poo
